Despite coming here on business, Greyson couldn't help but appreciate the exhibits all around him.

Making a promise to take a tour--after his meeting--he flags down a nearby employee.

"Good morning. Can you please point me to one GIDEON GRAVES please?"

Over his shoulder a small pink cat floats, tail curled into a inquisitive '?'.

After radioing for confirmation concerning Greyson Connors's appointment, the employee then politely asked the Elite Four member — and his odd, floating feline — to follow them to one of the museum's laboratories. [break][break]

Housed in a wing separate from the rest of the exhibits and insectarium, this area of the museum was seldom seen by visitors or guests. [break][break]

"Ah, Mr. Connors." Looking up from the lab bench he was sat at, the professor removed a pair of readers from the bridge of his nose and tucked them into the collar of his lab coat as he stood to greet Greyson Connors.[break][break]

"Good afternoon. I believe we spoke on the phone," He recalled, extending his arm for a firm handshake. "Dr. Gideon Graves."[break][break]

As he ran through his polite pleasantries, Gideon's eyes couldn't help but stray to the MEW lingering by Greyson's shoulder.[break][break]

"I appreciate you taking the time to come all the way here."

His wandering eye catches Greyson’s attention so, once their hands part, he raises it to scratch the Mythical’s chin.

“This here, as you might already know, is Mew.” She coos softly beneath the scratches, their time together lending to Greyson’s intimate knowledge of where the Pokémon was most susceptible to melting like a puddle.

“Shall we walk as we talk? I’d love to see more of the place.”

"Yes," Gideon acknowledged, glancing over at MEW with an interested, curious eye. "I recognize it from the articles I've read."[break][break]

The professor didn't move to greet the Pokémon; he did not lift his hand to scratch it's chin, as Greyson Connors did, or even as an offer for it to sniff. There was no reason to press those boundaries. If MEW was curious, it would come to him.[break][break]

Mr. Connors was its caretaker, after all, and Gideon had trust in the man to help control MEW when needed.[break][break]

"Let's," Walking deeper into the laboratory, Gideon guided both man and Pokémon to a room accessed through a set of double doors. "We'll be using the area reserved for our research on Paradox Pokémon. As you know, I'm interested to see if Mew's capabilities are comparable with these anomalies."[break][break]

Passing through the threshold led them into a large, sterile space with tall ceilings. White light illuminated the room, showcasing a wall of enclosures to the far side which housed both normal Pokémon and Paradox alike.[break][break]

"I've gathered an assortment for our tests today."[break]

He whistles, conveying such feelings.

"Quite a layout you've got here." He'd never seen so many Paradox assembled in a place he wasn't fighting for his life.

"I have an Iron Valiant, if you need further studies." But more importantly, the subject of their studies here. "Is there any danger to Mew in this?"

The pink mythical perks at the mention of its name.

"So your reaching out came at the perfect time." Like fate, even. "And I appreciate the offer. I'll keep your Iron Valiant in mind for future studies."[break][break]

As for MEW's safety and Greyson Connors's concern about possible danger, Gideon responded with an emphatic, "None whatsoever."[break][break]

He extended a hand, offering it to MEW. "May I begin? I'll be sure to explain everything I'm doing as it's happening."

With Greyson Connors's assent, MEW hovered closer and gently touched its pink paw pad to the professor's open palm — it's way of showing its cooperation.[break][break]

In return, GIDEON GRAVES offered MEW a soft, encouraging smile.[break][break]

"There's nothing to be afraid of. You'll simply attempt to transform as you normally would."[break][break]

With that, he gestured to the first of several large, reinforced pens. Unlike the others, this one housed several of Gideon's own personal Pokémon: a DONPHAN, a VOLCARONA, and a shiny TYRANITAR.[break][break]

"Considering the quantity we need to collect today, I've opted to use buccal smears to acquire DNA samples," He explained to Greyson Connors while moving to retrieve the first swab.[break][break]

"Say 'aaaahhh'." The professor instructed, opening his own mouth wide to get the point across. MEW seemed quizzical at first — flexing its head from one side to the other — before complying with a muted squeak.[break][break]

"You shouldn't feel any pain. I just need to brush the inside of your cheek—" One, two, three seconds and it was over almost as quickly as he'd started.[break][break]

"Good, good. Not so bad, huh?" The swab was capped into a sterile container before Gideon grabbed the next. "Now we'll repeat the process for every Pokémon you transform into."[break][break]

It was easy enough for the three regular Pokémon in the first pen. Normal transformations, no problems with collecting samples.[break][break]

However, complications arose as soon as MEW attempted to transform into the GREAT TUSK in the neighboring pen...

"Are you swabbing the DNA of each transformation to test them against others of that species?"

Vocalizing also helped him follow along; his attention span for the unfamiliar was painfully short.

Shifting his attention to the Mew, he watches with equal parts interest and concern as its skin ripples and bubbles, concentration visible in the smallest tremor of its body. After a few precious seconds, he could take it no longer.

"Stop, Mew." It comes out sharper than he intended and it startles the Mythical. He softens it, mentally chastizing himself. "It's okay. Let's stop, yeah?" He turns an uneasy smile onto Gideon. "I don't think Mew is going to be able to do it."
